How It All Began…
Domaine du Bois de la Tour
In 1837, the town of Limeuil boasted no less than 80 hectares of vineyards.
In the small port of Limeuil, located at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers, barrels of red wine were loaded onto ships bound for Bordeaux.
A few decades later, around 1880, a velvety wine called “Clairet des Pierrailles” and a fruity white wine, made from grapes grown on the hills surrounding Limeuil, were added to the range.
In 1984, Domaine de la Vitrolle was acquired and fully revitalized by Bertin-Jean Beaugier, a businessman from the Périgord. His passion for winemaking led him to replant vineyards on the estate, on the well-exposed slopes of the Vézère valley around Limeuil.
On the remains of an old vineyard, already part of the estate in 1903, the first vines were planted on approximately 1.5 hectares.
Today, the vineyard covers 8 hectares and has steadily developed over the years with the same objective: producing high-quality yet approachable Périgord IGP wines (Protected Geographical Indication) that reflect both the people and the terroir.
Initially, wine production took place in the cellars of Château de la Vitrolle. As production increased, the construction of a new building became necessary in 2000. This building houses both a winery and an aging cellar. In this building — also known as the Chai — the entire winemaking process takes place.
At the same time, the wine range has evolved. What began with a single red Périgord wine has gradually expanded to include a second red wine, a rosé, and a white wine, completing the collection:
– Chevalier de la Demoiselle (white)
– Domaine de La Vitrolle (red)
– Demoiselle de Limeuil (red)
– Rosé des Pierrailles (rosé)
For over 30 years, our Périgord IGP wines have won numerous medals in national and international competitions, earning a well-deserved place on many fine wine lists.
the Chai
Where the Wine Comes to Life
Just a short distance from the vineyards lies our Chai: the beating heart of our wine production. This is where both bottle storage and the cuverie are located — the place where vinification takes place and our wines come to life.
The current chai was built in 2000. Before that, the wine cellar was located in the basement of Domaine la Vitrolle, also close to the vineyards.
The construction of the new chai was carried out with great attention to detail. The storage roof features beautiful rounded wooden vaults, and the building is excellently insulated. In addition, the chai is partially built into the ground, allowing for a naturally stable temperature — ideal for storing and aging our wines.

Boutique
In 2026, the existing restaurant next to the Tour was brought back to life. During the summer, it serves as a place where guests can enjoy food and drinks, while various activities are also organized.
This central building also houses our local boutique, where — in addition to our own wines — products from other regional producers are available.
